Ms Mehmooda Duke of Moosa-Duke Solicitors supported Mr Nigel Halliday and his family at the inquest into their daughter’s death.

The 19-year-old was found hanged in a wood near her home on 30th July 2015 after going missing 10 times.
The four-day hearing started on 20th September 2016 at Leicester Town Hall. It was heard that Victoria, from Broughton Astley, had told mental health staff she heard voices telling her to complete a mission. She said she had superpowers and could climb anything.

She was recovered from the top of the Haymarket car park in Leicester and a cinema complex in Milton Keynes.
Mr Halliday said he was devastated to learn that there were a number of missed opportunities which affected the quality of care that was provided to his daughter by Leicestershire Partnership Trust.

In a statement on behalf of the family, he said: “As a family we feel that Vicky was very badly let down and failed by the Mental Health Service, which was meant to protect her.

“We have paid the ultimate price for the hospital’s ‘lack of appropriate care.'”

Mr Halliday stated, “We hope that lessons will be learned and steps will be taken to prevent this happening to anyone else. We did, however, feel very supported by the police missing persons team on numerous occasions. We thank them for their compassion and professionalism.”
