Cancer Claims

Cancer causes more than one in four of all deaths in the UK and comes in over 200 different types. In the UK those most commonly contracted are Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Cervical cancer and Bowel Cancer. Luckily we live in an age where early detection and prompt treatment means that a wide range of cancers can be cured and the patient go on to live a long and healthy life.

Unfortunately, all of the cancers mentioned above have been known to be missed and misdiagnosed by doctors and medical professionals both in the NHS and the private sectors.

Moosa – Duke Solicitors have dealt with many cancer related claims including delays caused by GP’s & consultants in the diagnosis of cervical cancer, breast cancer, bowel cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer and testicular cancer.

Slides Misread & Delay in Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer

The effects of misdiagnosed cancer or a delay in the diagnosis may mean that the cancer worsens or becomes fatal. If a mistake has been made at any stage of your cancer care, or the care of a relative, you may be entitled to claim compensation.

Have you or someone you know suffered from Cancer because:

  • There was a failure to examine you or refer you in time for a scan
  • There was a failure to read your cervical smear slides correctly
  • There was a failure to interpret a mammogram correctly
  • The PSA results in prostate cancer were misread or misfiled ( see case studies)
  • There was a failure to investigate worrying symptoms and / or refer to a specialist
  • Investigations (x-ray/smears/biopsies) were interpreted incorrectly; the GP or hospital misread your smear results leading to a delay in diagnosis of cervical cancer
  • The GP or hospital ignored your low haemoglobin results or your blood results and missed a diagnosis of bowel cancer
  • GP or hospital treated a lump or tumour as benign when it was in fact breast / testicular cancer or a spinal / brain tumour
  • There was a failure to monitor when there was a family history of cancer
  • There was a failure to refer to a specialist
  • And more….these are just examples
