NHS and Social Care Staff Burnt Out

Posted By Kirsty Dakin - 8th June 2021

A health and social care committee report has advised that the NHS and care staff in England are so burnt out that it has become an “emergency” and risks the future of the health service.

The highly critical report said the problem existed before the Covid-19 pandemic and workers were exhausted and overstretched because of staff shortages.  One of the main problems was that there was no accurate forecast of how many staff the NHS needed for the next five to 10 years and a total overhaul was required.  It is really important that there is clear planning for the future staffing needs of the NHS, to provide support for workers and safe healthcare for patients.
