The Independent has reported that for the first time in the UK, a portable heart pump is being used to keep Grace, an 18 month old girl, alive while she waits for a lifesaving heart transplant. The pioneering technology was developed as part of an international collaboration and has won an award. It is wonderful that this technology is allowing Grace to lead as normal a life as possible and will make a big difference in the future for heart transplant patients.
