Heart Attack, GP failures, Death, Inquest
The injury
MDS Medical Law represented the family of Mr Clarke who sadly passed away because of acute heart failure following multiple failures by his GP, Dr Hussey.
Losing A Loved One
Losing a loved one is one of the most emotionally painful experiences anyone can go through – even more so when that loss is sudden, unexpected or where it is unclear why they passed away.
Where there is an Inquest, we can provide legal representation for this.
We will guide you through the process and help you to obtain the answers that you need about the cause of death and the events leading up to the death of your loved one. If the death was avoidable, then we can then represent you at the Inquest and in respect of a claim for compensation on a no-win-no-fee basis .
What happened to our client?
Mr Clarke attended his GP because he had been suffering from chest pains for a few weeks. He was advised that the pain was caused by indigestion and was prescribed medication for heartburn.
However, the chest pains continued so Mr Clarke attended his GP a second time a few weeks later. Again, he was told the pain was likely caused by indigestion.
Approximately one month later Mr Clarke was telling family members that the pain was so bad it was making him feel breathless. He therefore went back to his GP, who reassured him once more that the pains were nothing serious.
A short while after this 3rd consultation Mr Clarke and his wife flew to Spain for a planned holiday. On arrival, Mr Clarke was breathless and unwell. In the early hours of the following morning, he began to complain of increased pain and difficulty breathing. A doctor was called but, sadly, Mr Clarke passed away whilst on holiday in Spain before the doctor arrived.
A post-mortem revealed that Mr Clarke died of acute heart failure.
