Mehmooda Duke awarded an MBE in the 2019 New Year’s Honours List

Mehmooda Duke of Moosa-Duke Solicitors, has been recognised in the 2019 New Year’s Honour’s List with an MBE for services to the legal profession and female entrepreneurship. She was one of only five recipients of an MBE in the county.

Mehmooda set up Moosa-Duke Solicitors on 12th May 2003. It is a firm which specialises in Clinical Negligence. The firm is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Legal Aid Agency as a specialist firm and it is accordingly on the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel. The firm also has a Contract and Specialist Quality Mark from the Legal Aid Agency.

Mehmooda was the first female Asian president of Leicestershire Law Society and winner of the 2017 Leicester Mercury Women in Business Awards. She serves a number of boards for organisations including University of Leicester and Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Mehmooda is also a Deputy Lieutenant, officially representing Her Majesty the Queen for the City of Leicester.
